Dolly Parton's Dollywood might have been spared by the Smoky Mountain Wildfires, which have displaced thousands across Tennessee's Sevier County over the last week. But the country icon is making sure those who weren't so lucky have the help they need to move on from the wreckage.

As part of a new "My People Fund" initiative outlined via YouTube, Parton — by means of her Dollywood companies — has pledged $1,000 each month to families that lost their homes to the disaster (more than 700 structures have been totally destroyed, according to NBC News). Above, Parton acknowledges the Red Cross' remarkable efforts, and says she's ready to do her part, too.

"I've always believed that charity starts at home," she says. "I know it's been a trying time for my people, and this assistance will help."

Parton also encouraged fans and followers to make contributions, themselves, by visiting The Dollywood Foundation's website.

Parton previously released a statement to The Hollywood Reporter on November 29 in which she shared her devastation over the events.

"I have been watching the terrible fires in the Great Smoky Mountains and I am heartbroken," she said. "I am praying for all the families affected by the fire and the firefighters who are working so hard to keep everyone safe."

Fourteen separate fires across 17,000 acres have ravaged the Smoky Mountain area, NBC News reported. Seven people have died and nearly 100 have been hospitalized.
