This past weekend my husband brought me to a local feed and seed store to meet someone he knew I'd love -- Trey the Turkey. Yes, a sweet pet turkey that you can actually pet.

Trey lives at Three Chicks Feed, Seed and Cafe on Genoa Road. All I can say is I love Trey the Turkey! In fact, I couldn't stop talking about him all weekend. My husband, John, and I woke up early Saturday morning and stopped by Gateway Farmer's Market then it was off to breakfast. John had been to Three Chicks a couple of weeks ago for breakfast and decided that was where we needed to go so I could meet Trey.

Trey stays in a pen at night, but during the day he gets to roam around and usually hangs out in front of the store to greet people. When we got there he was still in his pen, but they soon let him out. Oh, he is gorgeous! He proudly bowed up, showing all his beautiful feathers. He let me pet him a little and posed for a picture.

Then we walked into the dining area and sat down. A few minutes later, Trey started walking in. Well, he's not supposed to be in there so they shooed him out to the front of the feed store area. Do you think he was following me? I think so.

After breakfast, we walked out front and visited with Trey some more. That's when I told John, "Now that I've met Trey, get ready 'cause this Thanksgiving I'll be checking into a Tofu turkey." Yeah, he nixed that idea really quick.

As we were getting ready to leave, some friends of ours showed up. We walked over to talk to them and low and behold a few minutes later I look down and Trey was standing right next to me. So, I talked to him and petted him a bit and then he stepped away from me. A few minutes later my friend Judith says, "Um, I think Trey likes you and your sweet talk!"  I look down and he was right beside me again ready for some more sweet talk and gentle pats.

Seriously, if you haven't met Trey the Turkey yet you need to. How often do you get see and pet a real turkey? And a beautiful one at that. So, if you're out and about be sure to stop by Three Chicks and say hi to my new friend Trey.
