Hi-Tech Apps To Keep Up With Your Kids

Keeping up with your kids these days can be nerve racking and Halloween is one of those that makes you want to know where they are at all times even more than usual. Because, you know . . .  zombies.

According to a story on USAToday.com, mostly focusing on Halloween safety, there are some terrific apps for your phone or tablet that will show where they are in real time. This is great for Halloween or anytime for that matter.

For Android users, when you're looking for one of these apps, be sure you pay attention to how many downloads they have, make sure they're into the hundreds of thousands and the ratings are averaging at least 4 stars. Don't be the guinea pig for a start-up app or company, especially for apps this important.

Family Locator GPS Tracker - This one allows you keep real-time track of your family and friends with their phone number and the app installed on their phone and yours. Also:

• Send/receive SOS with exact location
• Get notification, when your kid reaches a destination
• Mark safe zones such as school, or home on the map
• Create your own groups in the app
• Receive alerts when kids go where it’s not safe
• Easy real-time tracking of your stolen or lost phone
• Find your phone easily using your friend’s phone

Life360 - Claims to be the most accurate family locator on the market. Of course they all seem to claim that. Here's a few of the things Life360 can do:

• Create your own groups, called “Circles,” of and chat with them in Family Locator for free
• View real-time location of family and friends on a private family map
• Real-time alerts when Circle Members arrive at or leave destinations
• Track stolen or lost phones
• Use GPS tracking technology for directions to favorite locations
