Rejoice, it’s a Devil Wears Prada and an Into to Woods reunion!

According to Variety, Meryl Streep is reportedly in talks to join Disney’s Mary Poppins Returns, the upcoming sequel to the 1964 classic. She won’t be playing a character we know, though. According to the report, Streep would play Mary Poppins’ cousin, Topsy. I cannot wait to hear Streep to get nominated at the 2019 Oscars for playing a character named Topsy; how great is that? And if you were wondering, Streep will also be singing again.

The new musical will be directed by Into the Woods‘ Rob Marshall and star Emily Blunt in the titular role. Lin-Manuel Miranda of Hamilton fame will also star in the new musical as Jack, a street lamplighter. Here’s the film’s official synopsis:

Drawing from the wealth of material in P.L. Travers’ seven additional novels, the story will take place in Depression-era London (when the books were originally written) and follows a now-grown Jane and Michael Banks, who, along with Michael’s three children, are visited by the enigmatic Mary Poppins following a personal loss. Through her unique magical skills, and with the aid of her friend Jack, she helps the family rediscover the joy and wonder missing in their lives.

Mary Poppins Returns is written by David Merge and also reunites Marshall, Streep, and Blunt with Into the Woods producers Marc Platt and John DeLuca. The movie opens December 25, 2018.
