Memorial Day. It's the kickstart to summer vacations, but it's so much more than that. This Memorial Day weekend when you are enjoying the great food, friends and family, take some time to remember what this day is really about.

Memorial Day is a day to remember and honor those men and women who have died serving our country. The holiday has its roots going back to our Civil War. First known as Decoration Day because of people decorating the graves of the lost men during the Civil War. History.com states:

Memorial Day, as Decoration Day gradually came to be known, originally honored only those lost while fighting in the Civil War. But during World War I the United States found itself embroiled in another major conflict, and the holiday evolved to commemorate American military personnel who died in all wars.

President Ronald Reagan gave this speech back in the '80s and it's still so powerful.
