Texarkana College Alumnus Ross Perot came back home today to lend a helping hand to the fiscally struggling institution and to issue the community a challenge.

The Dallas billionaire who grew up in Texarkana presented the college a check for $1 million dollars. Perot promised another $4 million dollars over the next few years if the college either is able to convince voters to approve a tax district that would include the entire Bowie County or if the college meets fundraising goals.

Current, former and future students of Texarkana College were on hand along with public school educators from around the Texarkana area.

Texarkana College President James Henry Russell says Perot gave them an unbelievable shot in the arm that will keep the institution going till November and hopefully well into the future with the area citizens help.
