C-C-C-COLD! OK, weather-wise last Saturday could have been better. It was 26 degrees and cloudy when we arrived at the Texarkana Gun Club for the very first Steel Challenge match, and actually got colder before the morning was over if you can believe that. But even though it was a "bit nippy" out, we still had 26 shooters in our first match attempt of this kind.

From every report I've heard, all that showed up had a great time shooting the match. We had several that were new to match shooting, and you could see it in their eyes before it was over, they got bitten by the "shooting match" bug. The one's that I talked to said they were coming back for sure in March. In fact, they were already making plans of how they could do it better, or smarter, or in some cases, cheaper. (.22 rim-fire is much cheaper than centerfire ammo by the way). And everyone is hoping for warmer weather if nothing else.

Congrats to Odie Dehan, Denis Shirk, Kelley Murrey and Richard Jones, all coming in first in their respective divisions and Richard Jones again for coming in first overall.

Complete breakdowns of the shooters can be seen at TexarkanaGunClub.org.

Now it's time to get ready for the USPSA/IPSC first match of the year coming up Saturday, March 3rd. More on that later.

As always, if your looking for a great place to shoot in the Ark-La-Tex, a local instructor or some new friends to shoot with, you’ll find it all at TexarkanaGunClub.org.
