Texarkana’s First Mardi Gras Celebration Happens this Saturday
With more than 50 floats, and 130 vendors, Texarkana’s first Mardi Gras celebration and the Krewe of Koinonia parade is shaping up to be nothing less than SPECTACULAR!
It will be an all day celebration, beginning at 2 p.m. with the Krewe of Paws and Little Rascals Parade for kids with pets, or battery operated cars. Captain Joe and his band will be performing live music.
Food vendors will be serving up Crawfish, Gumbo, Jumbalaya and more Mardi Gras favorites. (Adult beverage sales will begin at 4 p.m.)
The Krewe of Koinona will kick off the main parade at 4 p.m.
The parade route will start at East Broad and Front Street going west to the Front and right onto Olive street. Then the parade will go north on Olive Street taking a right onto East Third Street, where it will continue and then turn left onto Hazel to an almost immediate right onto Fourth Street. Once on East Fourth, it will proceed east to Pecan Street then travel back south on East Broad to Senator Street.
After the parade the party will continue to 9 p.m..
