The Texas State Senate is considering expanding the money spent on public education in the Lone Star State.The Texas Senate budget writers were ridiculed for drafting a budget that was considered to lean. Now that are considering spending $1.4 billion dollars more for public schools and another $240 million dollars for mental health issues.

Overall, the senate is too consider adding over $5 billion dollars in proposed spending. Of course, public education spending was slashed in the last legislative session in 2011 during tough economic times in the state.
