The Four States Fair kicks off on Friday, Sept. 11, 2015 and has two new rides on the midway to enjoy. Take a video tour of the midway to see what is back and check out the new rides.

Video Tour of the Midway:

I tried the new rides out and they are fantastic. The Spin Out spins and turns right side up then spins and turns up side down. The Vertigo is a swing that moves pretty fast while raising you way up in the air. The Tornado is back and the Kamikaze is running this year.

On the Spin Out, you spin around, go upside down and all around as you can see above.

We are so happy to have the Tornado back again.

The last time the Kamikaze ride was here, it didn't run the entire fair but this year it is ready to roll!

Go vertical on the Vertigo! It looks like a chilled-out swing ride but it has some thrill. It goes high in the sky and swings you around fast.

Check these photos that I was able to take from the top of the Ferris Wheel:

Watch the New Spin Out Ride:

I spoke with the inspector each time I was at the fair this week before it opened. I learned a lot about what goes on before the gates open. Although he wasn't available for a video interview, he was very informative about the process of inspecting all of the rides for safety. Every cable, every bolt, every seatbelt and everything big or small, that is on each ride is inspected.

He said he spends about 40 hours at the fair doing the inspection before the midway opens. There were two inspectors taking care of business this week and last week so fair goers can feel confident that all is well. Our rides have something extra that even Shreveport doesn't have at their fair. Wright's Amusements Carnival includes a special feature on each ride that does not allow the ride to start without so it creates extra safety to prevent an accident like the one that happened at the Shreveport fair last year.

Two switches have to be used at the same time for the ride to start and, if any belts or latches are not secured, the ride will not start. It is a fail-safe feature to make sure patrons have a good time without worrying about their kids on the rides.
