A free public information meeting has been scheduled in Ashdown by the Arkansas Natural Resources Commission (ANRC) to discuss the “Final Draft of the Lower Little River Watershed-based Management Plan.”

This is associated with voluntary efforts to reduce non-point source pollution. Farmers and other watershed landowners, county and municipal officials, community leaders, and representatives of groups and agencies interested in the watershed are encouraged to attend. This is the fourth and final meeting of the process to prepare a draft plan.

The meeting will be February 25th at UA Cossatot, Millwood Room (321), 1411 N. Constitution Ave. It begins at 10AM and concludes at noon.

The development of the draft plan began about a year ago, and three public meetings have been held in the watershed during the process. ANRC will consider input from this meeting and the previous ones to develop the voluntary watershed-based management plan.

The purpose of the plan is to provide a framework for landowners, communities, and qualifying organizations that want to voluntarily participate in the watershed management program and undertake projects. The watershed plan is scheduled to be finalized in early March.
